Team USA was built through pre-qualifying competitions, video submissions and special invites. The 2024 team includes surfers from Washington, Hawaii, California, Oregon, Massachusetts, Idaho... and one vagabond.

TEAM USA QUALIFYING METHODS
01 Tournament Performance
A portion of Team USA is made up from qualifying tournament finishes. Winners of the Men's & Women's Open Division at the Battle of the Butte earn a spot on Team USA. The top female finisher and the top two male finishers in the previous Continental Surf Cup also earn an invite.
02 Sponsor Invites
Tournament hosts, Team USA officials and the Team USA Captain are given the opportunity to invite surfers to join Team USA based on known skills and ability.
03 Video Submissions
Every summer a video submission period is opened to anyone eligible for Team USA to submit a video. A panel of evaluators then rank surfers from 1st to 10th. These rankings are compiled together and at least 2 spots on Team USA are awarded.
